The biggest reason why Espresso Ristretto is different from the classic Single Espresso is that it is prepared using less water. While 7 grams of ground coffee is used in both types of coffee, water is run through the machine for 30 seconds to obtain 25ml Espresso; To obtain 15ml of Ristretto, it is sufficient to run water through the machine for 7 to 11 seconds.
• Ristretto coffee has a lower caffeine amount and a stronger aroma compared to Espresso.
• While Ristretto can be drunk in one sip, even single espresso can be drunk in two or more sips.
Footnote: Although finer ground coffee is preferred when preparing ristretto than espresso, the same ground coffee can also be used from time to time.
